Squid Ward was written on the lands of the Wonnarua, and Kamilaroi peoples. I acknowledge their continual contributions to storytelling and the lands upon which this story was created. I pay my utmost respects to Elders past and present and extend this respect to all First Nations peoples and cultures.

Land always has and always will be our greatest teacher, holding stories of its peoples that are much more inspiring than any work of fiction I could ever write. I honour the enduring histories, self-determination, resilience, sovereignty and connections of our First Nation peoples to land, sky, water, culture and community.
